BALLANTYNE UNVEILS A NEW COLLABORATION WITH BRITISH DESIGNER LOUISE GOLDIN

Ballantyne, the iconic Scottish knitwear brand that since 1921 has been synonymous with the most refined techniques and know-how in cashmere knitwear, has joined forces with futuristic British fashion designer Louise Goldin to present a capsule collection for Spring - Summer 2010.

The line, to be unveiled in September during London Fashion Week, consists of 40 knitwear pieces, ranging from short dresses to skirts and tops in black, royal blue, coral, purple and violet. Goldin’s strong graphic images, inspired by Aztec artwork that combines mummies with butterfly wings, feature on Ballantyne innovative programmed knits. A combination of the finest silks and cottons have been blended to create lightweight summer jacquards. To differentiate this project from the rest of the collection, Ballantyne has created a special label, reversing the colours of its original damson logo to beige.

Louise Goldin, an MA Graduate of Central Saint Martin’s and admired by buyers and fashion editors alike, is known for her determinedly body-conscious, deconstructed clothing which bring a futuristic take to iconic knits. She says, “I wanted to fuse the heritage and expertise of Ballantyne with my own young, bright, modern sensibility.”

Giuseppe Rossi, Ballantyne’s Chief Executive Officer, says “Louise Goldin is an unquestionable talent in our field and we liked the idea of linking our experience to her creative skills, at the same time strengthening our British roots.”
This collaboration will be extended for Autumn Winter 2010 .

The Ballantyne Louise Goldin Spring -Summer 2010 capsule collection will be available in February 2010 in Ballantyne boutiques as well as specialty stores worldwide.
